I usually use carene waterman's Strip Empties bookmarklet to clear out extra whitespace (amusingly, they credit me on that page for having a similar idea in a long defunct userscript), but I've encountered a few works recently that it doesn't work on, so I re-implemented it in jQuery for my own use.

Usage Instructions:

1. Install the bookmarklet in your browser. (For more information, see How to Use Bookmarklets.)
2. Go to any work page. Click the bookmarklet and excess paragraphs will be removed.
